Deployed engineer wins Goddard Medal
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Senior Master Sgt. Mark Stolar was selected as the 2008 Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Goddard Medal award winner. Sgt. Stolar is currently deployed to Afghanistan for a year tour. Chief Jeff Jarvis accepted the award at Air Force Reserve Command level in October and will also accept for Sgt. Stolar during the 2008 Air Force Awards Banquet at Bolling Air Force Base in January. The SAME Goddard Medal is named for Maj. Gen. Guy Goddard. Three medals are awarded annually to enlisted Air Force members, active, Guard and Reserve, recognizing outstanding contributions to military engineering, military troop construction, base maintenance and contingency engineering.
