Operations of the V-22 Osprey - Package, Long
AFN Afghanistan
April 27, 2011 | 1:29
Package about how the United States began using airplanes in military operations during World War I. Military helicopters have been in use dating back to World War II because of their ability to take off and land vertically, in a small area. In the 1980's, the U.S. military began developing an airframe that would combine the speed of an airplane and the movements of a helicopter. Marine Cpl. Nate Carberry tells us some of the benefits of that aircraft. Sound bite includes Capt. Kevin Semler - V-22 Pilot - Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 and Cpl. John Cederholm - V-22 Crew Chief - Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264. Produced by Cpl. Nate Carberry. Also available in High Definition.
