NATO’s new high readiness ‘spearhead’ force is being deployed for the first time, as Exercise NOBLE JUMP gets underway with forces converging in Zagan, Poland for simulated combat. Units assigned to the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) were given orders to deploy on Tuesday 9 June 2015, and will exercise until 19 June. Over 2,100 troops from nine NATO nations are participating in the exercise, which continues the process of testing and refining the force.
Dutch and Norwegian forces train in various military techniques, including mortar firing and aiming, and medical care, among other things.

PART 2
NOBLE JUMP_20150613_DUTCH AND NORWAY MORTAR FIRING_SOUNDBITES.mov
SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH)
Sergeant First Class Kunt, commander of the Mortersquad from 11 Infantry Battalion from Dutch Army.
(00:00) (01:16) We are today training some basic skills from the mortar to get our capabilities much higher than normal, so we’re now are training the aiming. Two, four guys are now training at daylight and they want to improve the skills, because we have to aim very fast to minimize the time between, we shoot in around is on deck. That's what we doing today.
There are soldiers of my squad now training in medical treatment, if one of our guys is wounded and I want that guys to have basic good skills of medical treatment, so that what they are doing right now, the two stations here behind and the another station we are training some machine gun drills and handling with the weapons.
I think is an opportunity to see and train with other countries I think we can learn from each other, this morning I have some contact with the Czech colleagues also from the morter squad, and it´s nice to look in each other kitchen, that´s how we call it. I think it's a big opportunity this week.
SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH)
Private first class Van Vuuren,
scout sniper from Dutch Army.
(01:17- 02:05) What we doing here is an observation lane, me and a colleague we hide some unnatural things in a sector. They are looking in and they have to find those things in a total of 40 minutes. We hid those things in the way that they are visible but just a little piece of it, and this way we train them to look for things that are unnatural in the terrain. This is handy and good for if they have to spot enemy snipers or enemy that are hidden in certain areas or certain terrain and this way we train ourselves to find those people or snipers or whatever is hidden.
SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH)
LT Alexander Hage, public affairs officer of the Norwegian telemarkt.
(02:07-02:32) Behind me now Norwegian engineers attached to the Telemark battalion are here in the exercise Noble Jump in Poland. Right now we are going through part of the exercise they will be conducting the next couple of days joint with other nations of NATO, so right now there are going into their own role in the bigger picture of the exercise.
