Noble Jump: NOR Telemark Battalion Poland, Soundbites
Natochannel
June 10, 2015 | 1:26
NATO’s new high readiness ‘spearhead’ force is being deployed for the first time, as Exercise NOBLE JUMP gets underway with forces converging in Zagan, Poland to test a wide range of capabilities including combat. Units assigned to the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) were given orders to deploy on Tuesday 9 June 2015, and will exercise until 19 June. Over 2,100 troops from nine NATO nations are participating in the exercise, which continues the process of testing and refining the force.
NATO’s Rapid Response Forces travel from Germany to Poland via road and rail, arriving in the Polish town of Zagan in just a few hours.
A Norwegian trailer column transports supplies to the Telemark Battalion, from the German base of Lager Trauen. At the same time 3 convoys leave Bergen with more than 50 military vehicles to participate in Noble Jump 2015.
For further information on the exercise, please refer to: http://aco.nato.int/nato-spearhead-force-deploys-for-first-time--exercise-noble-jump-underway.aspx

00:00:00 SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH), LIEUTENANT GJERDE ANDRÉ, Asst S-4 TELEMARKT BATTALION, Norwegian Army
‘Right now the Norwegian battle group from the Telemarkt Battalion is going to Zagan, in Poland to participate in the exercise Noble Jump. Well, this column will be in a Zagan in Poland in about five, five and half hours, So they are ready and the all the equipment from the logistics are all ready packed.’
00:00:36 SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH), LIEUTENANT ERIK THORSRUD, Commander Recovery Vehicle, Norwegian Army
‘Most important thing we are doing is taking care of the safety, stay clear from everything that can crush you between containers, we have cranes there are going to lift containers on this trucks, we gonna stay away from that, also when we are driving vehicles we have to have one guy in front, one guy in the rear, checking out everything is ok, and always have connection with the driver, so nothing bad happens.
For 30 vehicles we gonna load them and lash them and it takes about two hours, two and a half house, so we are done with the job in a safe way.’
