NATO Land Commander, General John Nicholson, visited a multinational brigade in Chinchilla in Spain during NATO military exercise, Trident Juncture 2015.
Trident Juncture is NATO’s most ambitious land, sea and air exercise in more than a decade. Involving more than 36000 troops from over 30 Allied and Partner Nations, it is primarily hosted by Italy, Portugal and Spain.

‘’Well it’s tremendous to be out here with the 4th Brigade, to observe first hand the great training and competence that’s being developed. The opportunity to train as a multinational Brigade against an aggressive and capable OPFOR (opposing forces) is extremely important. The forces here are all demonstrating they’re capable, ready and especially in terms of multinational operations, to interoperate as a multinational coalition forces and an ability to conduct a range of tasks that we frankly have not done in the last ten years that we’ve been focused on Afghanistan. So seeing the conventional tasks that are necessary to deter and prevent conflict being performed at such a high standard should be a very positive message for everyone in the Alliance.’’
