SDF Spokesperson, Kino Gabriel, gives Operation Roundup update
Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve
July 24, 2018 | 3:19
Syrian Democratic Forces Spokesperson, Kino Gabriel, gives an update on Operation Roundup and the continued offensive operations to clear Syria of ISIS, school desk divestitures in Raqqah, and medical care to newly liberated areas. (U.S. Army video by SSG Brigitte Morgan)
Script:
Operation Roundup continues steady progress towards the final elimination of ISIS in northern Syria. Continuous and steady steps have been made towards the complete clearing of the northern countryside of Deir-e-Zour and the preparation of further operations in inhabited areas of the Middle Euphrates River Valley.
Our forces progressed approximately 60 kilometers in the deserted areas in northern Deir al-Zour which were cleared and secured. The area needs more protection to ensure full security from Daesh mercenaries, due the possible big number of shelters and caches that may have been created to penetrate our defenses later on.
Preparations for offensive operations continue in the southern region, supported by coordinated coalition ground and air strikes and Iraqi cross-border air and artillery strikes, with the objective of liberating the major population centers in the Middle Euphrates River Valley.
We ask our civilian brothers and sisters not to move back to their homes until war remnants clearing operation is complete.
In addition to our military operations, along with our partners in the International Coalition, our program to fully terminate ISIS is ongoing in its civilian aspects. Through joint work with civil councils in various regions to promote stability, ensure the return of people to their normal life and the provision of basic services.
Providing medical services to civilians in the recently liberated area of Desheisha is one of our main priorities. Several mobile medical clinics have traveled to the area to treat patients and provide supplies and services.
Five ambulances were also handed over to the Civil Administration of Tabqa, which will facilitate the movement and transfer of patients to the local hospitals for urgent care.
Also, thousands of chairs and desks were divested to the schools in Raqqa city, which will enable thousands of children to receive education and participate in essential activities after several years of being out of school.
I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the statements made by General Votel, Commander of the US Central Command, that together – we are very good partners on the ground in northeast Syria. We as SDF reaffirm once again that the Syrian democratic forces, the civil administrations and the democratic self-administrations of Northern and Eastern Syria were the true partners of the International Coalition in its operations in Syria. Which proved to be capable of and managed to reach final victory over ISIS and restore security and stability to liberated areas. We will continue to work together in this framework until reaching agreement and a final solution to the Syrian conflict.
Recovery for our wounded, glory to our martyrs, freedom and the democracy for all Syrians.
Thank you.
