All Hands Update: Unmanned Aircraft Operates from USS Klakring
Defense Media Activity - Navy Production Division
Dec. 5, 2012 | 2:00
The Fire Scout Vertical Take Off and Landing Tactical Unmanned Ariel Vehicle System is designed to operate from air capable ships and has provided a significant improvement to organic surveillance capabilities. With vehicle endurance greater than five hours, a ship carrying more than one Fire Scout is capable of 24 hours of continuous on stage presence while providing coverage of 110 nautical miles from the launch site. The commanding Officer of the USS Klakring recently deployed with multiple Fire Scouts, speaks to the benefits to having them onboard. From Naval Station Mayport, I’m Petty Officer Salt Cebe. Also available in High Definition.
