Defense Media Activity - Air Force
July 23, 2012 | 1:25
U.S. Marines are sending out cannon fire to help support ground troops during exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2012. They are also helping to teach the Australians how to properly use the howitzer as a new addition to the Australian military. The M-triple-seven is used in militaries in the U.S., Australia, Canada and India. It weighs more than 9,000 pounds, requires 7 people to operate, and is helping ground troops from several countries overcome obstacles during RIMPAC 2012. Soundbites include Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Matthew Castek - Australian Battery Guide and SGT Terry Lott - Howitzer Section Chief. Produced by SrA Sarah Brice, Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii.
