The Hawaii Army Guard Environmental Office hosted a cleanup and native plant restoration event for about 100 volunteers and staff at Diamond Head Crater in participation of National Public Lands Day. Available in high definition.

The effort was funded by a 6500 dollar grant awarded from The National Environmental Education Foundation, suppling the plants and materials for the restoration project.

SOT 00:00:23;08: Cpt. Donna Wu, Commander Hawaii Army National Guard Environmental Office

The efforts at Diamond Head crater involved volunteers from Hawaii’s Youth Challenge Academy with assistance with Department of Land and Natural Resources - State Parks division, the Outdoor Circle. This year the volunteers refreshed two areas from previous years efforts with mulch and landscaping materials, while completely renovating a highly visible entry area.
