1. (00:04) SOUNDBITE IN ENGLISH, MAJOR SIMON, DANISH ARMY
“Major Simon, from the Danish Army. I deliberately chose to stay in Kabul, Afghanistan, during Christmas this year. I’m thinking by the end of the day you will eventually have enough Christmases back home with your family. And you might as well, you know, create a good story that you can think back on and tell at other Christmas Eves when you are back together with your family and friends. Besides, it is a bit like a family here. Some of us have been staying here for a very long time together. So it is a good experience to do these things together, not just in a professional manner but also family-wise. So we’ve got all the special Danish delicacies sent from home and from supporters around Denmark. I’m sure we will have some liver pate and hopefully some duck. Pork roast, classic, absolutely. We even got some of the Danish breweries to sponsor some alcohol-free Christmas beers so we can feel a little bit like home.
