TEAM SEYMOUR CIVIC LEADERS TOUR EIELSON AFB
Seymour Johnson base and community leaders boarded a 916th Air Refueling Wing KC-135 Stratotanker here and headed toward Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, for a two-day civic leader tour on June 20, 2019. Col. Craig McPike, commander of the 916th ARW led a delegation of representatives from The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, City of Goldsboro and the 4th Fighter Wing. The tour was created with the intent of exposing local civic leaders to a similar base-community dynamic in a different geographic location in order to compare and contrast effective communication strategies as well as optimize base community partnerships. “Our civic leaders are advocates for airpower and the Air Force,” said McPike. “In order for them to advocate on our behalf, we have to ensure they’re informed about our mission dynamics.” (US Air Force Photo by Jeramy Moore)
