Col. Eric R. Jenkins took command of the 916th Air Refueling Wing from Col. Craig B. Shenkenberg during a change of command ceremony at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, July 10.

Maj. Gen. John C. Flournoy, Jr., 4th Air Force commander, presided over the ceremony, passing the 916th ARW guidon between the two commanders.

During the ceremony, which started at exactly 9:16 a.m., a crowd of wing members, community partners, family and friends watched as Jenkins took over the reins of leadership from Shenkenberg, who served the 916th ARW as both its wing commander and vice wing commander.

Prior to his current position, Jenkins was the vice commander of the 507th ARW, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. He was commissioned into the Air Force upon earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1988.
