August 7th marked a new chapter in the history of the 414th Maintenance Squadron here as Lt. Col. Luis M. Nunez assumed command.

Family, friends and members of his new command joined Col. Nunez at the ceremony as he accepted command of the squadron from 414th Fighter Group Commander Lt. Col. Christopher Freeman.

The Brooklyn, New York, native comes to Team Seymour from Westover Air Reserve Base in Massachusetts, where his exemplary leadership paved the way to a score of excellent on their most recent Operational Readiness Inspection just before his departure.

Nunez credited the support of his family and the men and women whom he has lead as playing an integral part of his successes in past endeavors, as well as in those to come. He adds that he and his family are anxious to begin their new experience in Goldsboro and at Seymour Johnson.

"Everyone I asked about this area before coming here said the same thing - it is a great place, very welcoming, with lots of support," said Nunez, adding that they are all excited to be here and look forward to becoming part of what makes Team Seymour such an asset to Air Force operations throughout the globe.
