Wing leadership spreads holiday cheer Published Dec. 19, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Alan Abernethy 916th Public Affairs Office SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Members of the 916th Air Refueling Wing leadership team got into the holiday spirit by serving lunch at the Southern Eagle dining facility on Sunday, December 8, during the drill weekend. "It was a great way to demonstrate 'servant leadership' and it was a morale builder for the wing," said Chief Master Sgt. James Loper, 916th Air Refueling Wing command chief. "We wore the Santa hats to get everyone into the holiday spirit." Col. Gregory Gilmour, 916th wing commander; Col. Craig Shenkenberg, 916th wing vice commander and Col. Caroline Evernham, 916th Operations Group Commander also served with Loper at the dining facility. "It was a fun surprise to see leaders from the wing working behind the counter," said Airman Ny'Cale Pitt, 916th Force Support Squadron personnel specialist. "Most of all, it was just a really nice gesture." 916th wing leadership has served a meal at the dining facility during the holiday season for many years now. "It's a tradition that stretches back as far as I can remember, at least 15 years," said Loper.
