Snow, rain, gusty winds and temperatures in the teens are expected as a cold front approaches Wayne County and surrounding areas, Tuesday evening, Jan. 21.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory which is in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 to midnight Wednesday, Jan. 8.

All Wayne County Public Schools closed two hours early Tuesday; all after school functions are cancelled.

"We will definitely see a sharp change in weather conditions Tuesday evening," said a representative from the 4th Operations Support Squadron weather flight. "Expect stinging cold winds and an accumulation of snow up to one inch by early Wednesday."

According to the NWS, lingering slush or moisture on roadways will freeze resulting in icy conditions Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, especially on bridges and overpasses.
