Strong winds, snow and ice are expected around Seymour Johnson Air Force Base for the second time this week as a strong winter storm moves through Eastern North Carolina.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the area, in effect from noon Tuesday, Jan. 28 to noon Wednesday, Jan. 29.

"We are expecting snowfall by early Tuesday afternoon," said a representative from the 4th Operations Support Squadron weather flight. "It's definitely possible that we will see seven inches of snowfall before noon on Wednesday."

According to the NWS, the snow will likely impact travel on major arteries, such as U.S. Highway 70.

Low temperatures in the mid-teens are expected for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
