Team Seymour should expect increased activity, simulated explosions, ground bursts, and airfield attacks around the 916th Air Refueling Wing while Exercise Razor Sharp is conducted, June 5-8.

"The base populous will see a lot more activity on the 916th side of the house; definitely more than they're used to," said Lt. Col. Scott Teel, 916th ARW inspector general. "Expect the loudest noises on Friday, June 6, before noon."

The exercise will fulfill the reserve wing's requirements for annual readiness and aircraft generation inspections, added Teel. It's all part of the new force-wide commander's inspection process.

"It's up to our wing commander to determine what his requirements are to be confident that his people can deploy to an austere location, establish a base and operate and survive at that base," says Teel. "The good thing about the new program is that it's not one size fits all; it's tailored for what, realistically, our unit would be tasked to do."

Although the exercise is to be carried out primarily for and by the 916th ARW, it has been planned around the infrastructure of Exercise Razor Talon and will utilize the support of 4th Fighter Wing personnel.

"Inspectors from the 4th FW IG office will augment our staff for the exercise," said Teel. "A synergy is definitely building between the two teams."

With the Reserve and active duty units working together, this exercise is a great example of Total Force Integration, added Teel.

The 916th IG team plans to have inspection tents set-up for functions like self-aid buddy care and weapons training; after the inspection, 4th FW personnel plan to use the tents for training, said Senior Master Sgt. Jeff Williams, 916th IG inspections superintendent.

"We'll definitely be helping each other out on this one," added Williams.

Additional collaboration between the Reserve and active duty IG teams is planned for the near future.
