The 916th Air Refueling Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, and the American Red Cross plan to host a "Holiday Mail for Heroes" event, here, at Heritage Hall, Nov. 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

By facilitating holiday card signing, the program aims to bring a little joy to military men and women separated from their families during the holiday season, said Josh Cain, Director of Services to the Armed Forces, American Red Cross, Eastern N.C. Region.

Once the cards are signed and scanned for safety, Red Cross volunteers will sort and deliver them to service members, veterans and their families across the country and around the world, he added.

"The event is part of a nationwide effort the Red Cross orchestrates to ensure the community has a chance to express gratitude to service members," said Cain. "We are proud to partner with the 916th Air Refueling Wing to host this event together for the third consecutive year."

This kick-off event will launch Holiday Mail card signing events in communities all over Eastern N.C.

Anyone interested in hosting a card signing event should contact their local Red Cross Chapter.
