Col. Fritz Linsenmeyer, 916th Air Refueling Wing commander, helped kick-off the 2007-2008 Combined Federal Campaign during a luncheon held in late October here.

The CFC is the largest workplace charitable giving program in the world. Contributors may make donations to more than 2,000 charities that support causes throughout the United States and abroad. Civilians and Air Reserve Technicians, such as Col. Linsenmeyer, can opt to have deductions taken from their payroll whereas traditional reservists can make a one-time donation through check or cash.

The 4th Fighter Wing and 916th Air Refueling Wing held the luncheon at the Non-Commissioned Officer's Club on base Oct. 22, 2007 to kick-off their giving season. Several informational booths provided insight to various charitable organizations that members could support.

The 916th's goal is to raise $12,000 and to have 100 percent contact with all members.

Tech. Sgt. Sharon Loring is the project officer for the 916th and has been leading the wing in the CFC campaign for six years. "I do it because I think it is a good cause. I wholeheartedly believe in this," she said. "The money we provide some of these agencies might be all they get."

Last year the 916th raised $11,331.

The campaign runs till Dec 5 for members of the Air Force Reserve tanker wing.
