Hanna forces jets to safer ground
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Hurricane Hanna, due to hit the North Carolina coast with high winds predicted to reach as far inland as the Raleigh area, forced members of the 916th Air Refueling Wing and 4th Fighter Wing to evacuate jets and critical crew members on Thursday. The Air Force Reserve tanker wing evacuated seven KC-135 Stratotankers headed for Ohio and Indiana and the F-15 Strike Eagle active duty wing evacuated 80 jets to Ohio. The Reserve training weekend was cancelled due to the storm which is scheduled to hit North Carolina on Saturday. U.S. Air Force photo/Ms. Donna Lea
