The 916th Air Refueling Wing is hosting a combat dining-in at 5:30 p.m. May 2 in the 916th Fuel Cell for all reservists and active duty assigned to the wing.

Ticket prices are $3 per person for senior airmen and below, $10 per person for noncommissioned officers and $18 per person for senior noncommissioned officers and officers, said Senior Master Sgt. Dana Bates, combat dining-in planning committee member.

The three-hour event will have a warrior spirit theme along with Col. Fritz Linsenmeyer serving as the president of the mess, but prior to the dining-in interested reservists should read the rules of the mess, said Senior Master Sgt. Dana Bates, 916th Operations Support Squadron aircrew and flight equipment superintendent.

"A dining-in provides situations where ceremony, tradition and good fellowship enhance the military unit and can make the difference between a good unit and an outstanding one, such as the 916th Air Refueling Wing," Sergeant Bates said.

"The combat dining-in, the newest of the dining-in traditions, is becoming increasingly popular with the format and sequence of events (that) are built around the traditional dining-in, but this function's far less formal atmosphere and combat dress requirements make it very appealing," Sergeant Bates added.

The upcoming dining-in is being held to increase the morale and esprit de corps within the 916th ARW, especially, since it has gained a new squadron, the 911th Air Refueling Squadron, Sergeant Bates said.

The attire for the evening is battle dress uniforms, airman battle uniforms, flight suits and/or modified versions of those are acceptable along with camouflage paint, Sergeant Bates said.

"But make sure you are ready for 'war' ...," Sgt. Bates added.

Tickets are available through representatives in the squadrons and groups.
