Hitting the mark Published June 24, 2009 By Senior Airman Charles Walters 916th Security Forces Squadron SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The 916th Security Forces Squadron's Combat Arms section isn't a big part of the overall Security Forces Squadron, but it is a big part of the critical skills needed to deploy Airmen to war. While most Airmen only interact with the section for M-9 and M-16 training, combat arms actually educates frequent deployers on a variety of other weapons. In May, security forces personnel along with reservists from the 567th Red Horse Squadron received training on M-4s, M-249s and M240Bs. With the 916th Security Forces deploying nearly all its members to Iraq in the past year and a half, qualifying and re-qualifying on these weapons in a timely manner is an essential to maintain the ability to deploy and proficiency required to effectively support the global war on terror.
