More than a 100 military members, community and business leaders turned out to see the dedication of two new buildings at the 916th Air Refueling Wing.

After 18 months of construction, the 916th Corrosion Control Hangar and Squadron Operations Building opened for business on Aug 14.

Due to the extreme North Carolina heat and distance of the buildings, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held inside the auditorium of the new squadron operations building.

Goldsboro community leaders, 4th Fighter Wing leadership and 6th Air Mobility Wing leadership (the wing that has administrative control over the 911th Air Refueling Squadron), came to participate in the celebration and get a look at the new facility.

They were impressed. Not only do the buildings offer the latest and greatest in energy efficient technology, but the KC-135 simulator is a needed, and exciting, addition.

Colonel Fritz Linsenmeyer, 916th Wing commander, presided over the ceremony and told all present the partnership between the 916th and 911th was the premier partnership in the Air Force. "The command knows how it is done right," he said. "And it is right here at Seymour Johnson."
