A group of Airmen from Team Seymour will be traveling to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to participate in the Air Force Marathon on September 19. The team consists of people from various squadrons of the 916th Air Refueling Wing and the 4th Fighter Wing.

Lt. Col. Arthur Primas, Director of Operations with the 911th Air Refueling Squadron, is one of the organizers of Team Seymour and said that team members have a few common goals, "to have fun, complete the race and represent Seymour Johnson AFB well."

The group began gathering at 6 a.m. on Saturday mornings in March of this year to train for the marathon. What began as a four to five mile run then has culminated into a 22-23 mile run as the day of the marathon draws near. Colonel Primas said that though the experience level of the group varies widely, one common thread keeps morale high. "Collectively we have been able to come together because of a shared love of running and pride in Seymour Johnson Air Force Base."

To make the event even more special, Colonel Primas will conduct a reenlistment ceremony for several of the runners at the finish line.

According to Colonel Primas, one of those to be reenlisted, Tech. Sgt. Carrie Baker was recently selected for promotion to master sergeant, and has been a key member of the team. Colonel Primus expressed his confidence in Sergeant Baker, describing her as "a good runner", and made a prediction for the outcome of the run, "I think she'll be waiting for me at the finish line."

"The camaraderie is great and we hope to keep the group going."

Team Seymour plans to pick another event next year to train together again.
