The newest squadron at the 916th Air Refueling Wing recently unveiled its squadron emblem.

The 916th Operations Support Squadron, which was formed just about a year ago, had its emblem approved in early September.

The emblem, which becomes a part of the squadron's history, uses the Air Force colors of blue and yellow. The official paperwork explains that, "Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel."

The approved paperwork goes on to further explain the significance of the crest stating, "The diamond symbol on the shield signifies not only the cardinal directions representative of the unit's worldwide mission, but also the four classical elements of fire, air, earth and water; through the use of air and fire, the unit protects the land and seas. The sword crossed overall represents honorable defense, support and protection."
