Guam deployers continue mission despite weather

Although Typhoon Melor is bringing high winds and rain to Guam, members of the 916th Air Refueling Wing aren't letting a little weather affect their mission.

The typhoon, which has been churning in the Western Pacific for nearly a week, forced the cancellation of the Andersen Air Force Base Air Show and has residents stock piling necessities. But for reservists and active duty Airmen deployed to Guam from Seymour Johnson, the mission is still in the forefront.

Obviously, flying during these conditions is not authorized, so members relocated the KC-135R Stratotankers to safer areas and continued their refueling mission as part of U.S. Pacific Command's Continuous Bomber Presence in the Asian-Pacific.

In addition to the bombers, various fighters are also in the region and receiving support from the 916th.
