As an equal opportunity advisor, Tech. Sgt. Susan Mayer knows the law.

Her training in the Air Force Reserve has taught her how to promote an environment rich in diversity and free of harassment and discrimination. While Sergeant Mayer knows these laws well, these aren't the only laws she's sworn to uphold.

Sergeant Mayer is also a Washington D.C. police officer, and a darn good one. In fact, she's so good that she was just named as Second District Officer of the Year.
Sergeant Mayer joined the military 17 years ago, but is new to the 916th Air Refueling Wing. She joins the Tarheel wing from Andrews Air Force Base, MD.

She finished her associate's degree in August in criminal justice, the same month she learned of her career achievement award. Over a period of 12 months she amassed 76 arrests, the highest for her district and worked closely with her community to address resident concerns.

Sergeant Mayer doesn't see this as her greatest accomplishment though, but just the beginning of what she can achieve. She is anxious to make herself a valuable source of information at the 916th and she is continuing her education working toward her bachelor's degree.
