Airmen of the 916th Air Refueling Wing have a lot more to celebrate this week than just ushering in a new year. On Dec 30, the Air Force Reserve wing received the news that they earned the 2009 Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

Col. Fritz Linsenmeyer, 916th commander, congratulated his more than 1,100 Reserve and Active Duty Airmen in an email he sent shortly after receiving the news himself.

"Congratulations to the 916th...recognition for a job well done in 2009," he said. "Let's do it again in 2010!"

The 916th was one of 15 Air Force Reserve units to receive the prestigious and highly coveted award.

"Members of these organizations should be extremely proud of their many acheivements and contributions resulting in this prestigious award," said Lt. Gen. Charles Stenner Jr., Air Force Reserve Command commander.

Information regarding the presentation of the award will be forthcoming, but for now members of the 916th will celebrate another accomplishment that puts them as the best of the best among Air Force units worldwide.
