Fini flight hose down Published Feb. 18, 2010 By Staff Sgt. Sean Gilson 911th Air Refueling Squadron SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The polar bear clubs of America don't have anything on members of the 911th Air Refueling Squadron, well one member anyway. In mid-February, Maj. Vecchione, a pilot with the 911th ARS took a different kind of plunge in frigid temperatures. While fully clothed, Maj. Vecchione got a serious hose down after finishing his final flight aboard a KC-135R. The major is leaving Seymour Johnson to take a joint assignment at Fort Benning, Georgia. In his new role he will assist the Army in coordinating mobility assets to move equipment and personnel into the Army's area of responsibility overseas. 911th Airmen didn't let him leave without a fond farewell though. Upon his final flight, the major was greeted by his commander holding a fire hose courtesy of the base fire department ,and as if that soaking wasn't enough, he then received well wishes from his peers in the form of coolers filled with champagne and water dumped over his head. String cheese, flour and mayonnaise finished off the job nicely.
