No notice inspection no problem for 916th Published June 24, 2010 By Maj. Shannon Mann 916th Public Affairs Office SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Two Nuclear Operational Readiness Inspections in an 18-month period is almost unheard of, but so is receiving two exceptional grades...yet the 916th continues to lead the way. On Monday, June 21, Col. Randy Ogden, 916th Air Refueling Wing commander, received a call that would send most commanders scrambling. Four inspectors from Air Mobility Command were on their way to Seymour Johnson that day to give a no-notice NORI inspection. While the 916th was abuzz on Monday afternoon, wing leadership was confident in the abilities on this award-winning unit to come together quickly and show the inspectors what makes this wing so outstanding. For two full days the inspectors reviewed command post, tactics, intelligence and a variety of other shops to see how the unit would peform with no prior planning for an inspection. When the dust cleared on Thursday morning and the inspectors were on their way home, the 916th had excelled yet again and the 916th Intelligence shop was noted with a team recognition award. "Everyone performed superbly," said Col. Randy Ogden. "We went above and beyond and the IG team noticed. I want to thank everyone in the 916th Air Refueling Wing and the 911th Air Refueling Squadron for a tremendous total force effort ."
