The 916th Air Refueling Wing was abuzz this week with plans for a special visitor.

Senator Kay Hagan, D-N.C., took time during her summer recess from Congress to visit Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and talk directly with the Airmen that make this Goldsboro base so well-known.

The senator spent time with the 4th Fighter Wing's Commander Col. Patrick Doherty and the 916th Air Refueling Wing's Commander Col. Randall Ogden. She discussed issues that were important to the base such as the need to replace aging KC-135R tankers and the upcoming deployment for the 333rd Fighter Squadron Rockets.

During Senator Hagan's visit she was able to meet with active duty and Reserve Airmen assigned to the 916th Air Refueling Wing. Col. Ogden escorted the senator on a tour of the wing's new corrosion control hangar where she was able to meet with Airmen of all ranks and discuss the accomplishments of the 916th.

The senator also toured the base's tower and health and wellness center.

"The visit went very well," said Col. Ogden. The colonel added that the senator was very knowledgeable on issues affecting Seymour Johnson. "We had a good visit and a good time in the corrosion hangar."
