"We have to be ready to fight the big war," said Brig. Gen. Richard Klumpp, Air Mobility Command inspector general. "A sat is pretty darn good."

The general addressed a crowd of roughly 200 Airmen from the 916th Air Refueling Wing here on Thursday morning. He was delivering the wing's grade for their Operational Readiness Inspection held in Savannah, Ga. last week.

The wing was graded in four major areas with 24 sub categories. Overall the wing was declared mission ready and will not repeat the inspection for another four to five years.

"We gave you a good, hard look because we depend so much on you," said Col. Steven Legrand, Inspector General team chief. "You are ready to go out and make the bad guys suffer."

"Too much rides on what we do in Air Mobility Command," Colonel Legrand said. So much so that an AMC plane taxiis down a runway every 90 seconds.

Several areas received a passing grade, while several others excelled during the inspection.

The AMC Inspector General recognized the following teams for exceptional performance during the inspection:

The Composite Tool Kit Team from the 916th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron consisted of Tech. Sgt. Robert Foor, Jr., Staff Sgt. Clifford and Senior Airman Joshua Collins.

The 916th Operations Group Intelligence Team was noted for their exceptional performance. The team consisted of Maj. Todd Halstead, Capt. Matt Lynch, Capt. David Ramirez, Master Sgt. Crawford Wilson III, Tech. Sgt. Dustin Murray and Tech. Sgt. Stephen Woofter.

The Security Forces Sector Command Post Team comprised of Maj. Jeff Prindle, Master Sgt. Karl Wolf, Tech. Sgt. Robert Lajuett III, Staff Sgt. Armando Rooks and Senior Airman Timothy Sweet were recognized.

Finally, in the team awards, the 916th Staff Judge Advocate Team made up of Lt. Col. Robert Youngblood and Staff Sgt. Michael Allard were also honored.

Individual performers were also noted for their superior knowlegde in their career fields. These honors went to Maj. Shannon Mann, Public Affairs, Tech. Sgts. David Adams and Stephen Jones, Security Forces and Tech. Sgt. James Felton, Logistics Readiness Squadron.

Four people were singled out to receive Inspector General coins for superior job knowledge and overall team esprit de corps. Brig. Gen. Klumpp presented coins to Lt. Col. James Clutter, Civil Engineers, Capt. Jessica Guarini, 911th Air Refueling Squadron, Senior Airman Nicole Barry, Operations Squadron and Senior Airman Anne Hand, Security Forces.

"The IG comes in and they help. It is painful, but for the best," said Col. Randy Ogden, 916th Air Refueling Wing commander. Col. Ogden, who has been on several inspections over the last few years, kept commenting that this was the best team he'd worked with thus far. The colonel presented several wing coins to individuals in various sections for their outstanding work in supporting the inspection. "I wouldn't be more delighted with the performance."
