Air Force Reserve Command announced today that the 916th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office won the 2011 Air Force Public Affairs Award for Communication Excellence for Best Innovative Program for their 25 Shout-Outs for 25 Years entry.

The entry, which ran on the wing's Facebook and Twitter pages in October 2011, used social media to help the community and celebrities congratulate 916th Airmen on 25 years of re-activation. The project brought together legislators, military leaders, professional athletes, musicians, actors and deployed Airmen to help the wing celebrate a historical milestone. Such famous names at Scotty McCreery, Kurt Busch, Panthers Coach Ron Rivera, Duke's Coach K, Stephen Bishop and Charles Barkley recorded video messages that were posted to the wing's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/916ARW

The project received such a great response that more videos appeared on the wing's website at www.916arw.afrc.af.mil

The 916th entry will continue forward to compete at the Air Force level. Winners will be announced in the next few weeks.
