Federal staffers learn about SJ mission

SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. --  It is a known fact they are the right hand of the their bosses. Their names might not be as familar as their public-persona employers, but they have a lot of influence where it counts.

They are federal staffers.

Last week, the 916th Air Refueling Wing hosted visits from the staff of Sen. Kay Hagan's office and Congressman G.K. Butterfield's office. Mr. Chris Cannon, military liaison for Sen. Hagan toured the base on Monday, Aug. 6. His visit included a mission briefing from the 4th Fighter Wing, along with a tour of an F-15E Strike Eagle, a KC-135R Stratotanker and a demonstration of the military working dogs.

On Thurs. Aug 9, staffers from Congressman Butterfield's office flew at 20,000 feet to witness an in-air refueling aboard a KC-135R.

All the staffers spent time talking to Airmen and reservists about issues affecting the base and issues that affect them personally. Hot topics included the new KC-46A and funding for future Yellow Ribbon events.
