For those of you that thought the Military Personnel Database System (MilPDS) was going offline in December for an overhaul, well the news has changed.

In a message released at the end of October, the Air Force noted it was delaying the new version, originally scheduled to shut down the system on Dec. 1.

MilPDS is a personnel records system that contains data related to promotions, assignments, duty and personal information, awards and decorations, and performance reports.

"The system hasn't been upgraded in 10 years, which makes it expensive to maintain and susceptible to security issues," said Master Sgt. Phyllis Summers, Personnel Systems Management chief. "The upgrade will improve functionality, reliability and bring it up to industry standards."

A new date for the upgrade has not yet been released, but wing members are urged to contact the Military Personnel Section to complete personnel actions as soon as possible so that a future upgrade will not affect these actions. Self service applications will be unaffected by the upgrade.
