The 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve, earned an excellent inspection rating from Air Mobility Command's Inspector General on Wednesday.

The Goldsboro unit, comprised of nearly 1,000 reservists and 300 active duty Airmen, was graded on their ability to plan and generate KC-135 Stratotankers to provide provide fuel to combat aircraft during contingency operations. The overall goal was to test the wing's ability to work with global U.S. Strategic Command forces during wartime scenarios and support the nuclear enterprise mission.

All sections of the wing were involved in this four-day, around-the-clock inspection including air crews, maintainers and support personnel that help maintain and sustain the force.

"This is the wing's fifth consecutive excellent rating for this type of inspection," said Col. Greg Gilmour, 916th Air Refueling Wing commander. "Our people have spent countless hours preparing to show these inspectors that not only do we know our jobs, but that we're the best in the business at it. Today's grade just helps solidify that fact."
