ECPI University Partners with USO for Military Job Fair Published May 9, 2013 USO of North Carolina RALEIGH, N.C. -- ECPI University, Raleigh Campus and the USO of North Carolina are pleased to announce Operation Military Job Fair, a day-long event featuring distinguished military and corporate guest speakers, local employers, career counselors, life coaches and a discussion panel on "Transitioning from Military to Civilian Life". Colonel Vernon Simpson Jr. will be the keynote speaker for the morning session. Colonel Simpson serves as Deputy Brigade Commander for the 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team as well as Full-Time G1 for the North Carolina National Guard. His numerous military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, five meritorious service medals, three Army Commendation Medals, and the Combat Action Badge. Speaker for the afternoon session will be Captain Bob Larned USNR (Ret), Executive Director of Military Education for ECPI University. Bob manages a team of military advisors and administrators that work with all branches of the service to provide distance learning education for the military. Distinguished discussion panel members include Mr. Michael Dakduk, Executive Director of Student Veterans of America, Captain Bob Larned, FBI Special Agent Newsom Summerlin, Michael Sims, Key Account Manager for Pepsi, and Eric Richardson, Student President of ECPI Honor Societies in Raleigh. As a nation, we need to do all we can to help service members and vets transition to civilian life," says ECPI University Executive Director of Military Education Robert Larned. "This goes way beyond just finding them a job." Scheduled for Friday, May 17 from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at ECPI University, located at 4101 Doie Cope Road in Raleigh, Operation Military Job Fair will feature approximately 40 employers at ECPI's Raleigh Campus to meet with military and veterans. Additionally, several workshops will be held during the day covering: · Resume Writing · Interviewing Skills · Networking · Educational Options · Challenges of Civilian Life · Stress Meditation Prospective employers will be on hand to meet with and interview attendees on the spot.
