The 916th Mission Support Group gained a new leader today as Col. James B. Hurley relinquished command of the unit to incoming commander Col. Karen Magnus.

Hurley has lead five security forces squadrons and is leaving Seymour Johnson to assume command of the Mission Support Group at Charleston AFB, S.C.

"I'm going to Charleston and it's my home. I'm happy about that," said Hurley. "I'm not happy about leaving you folks, though, or about leaving North Carolina and Seymour Johnson. I've made a lot of friends here."

Magnus brings with her a varied background that includes finance, services and public affairs. Most recently she served as the deputy commander of the 452nd Mission Support Group at March ARB, Calif.

"I'm excited about this opportunity," said Magnus. "I'm going to endeavor to be a conscientious steward of responsibility I've been given here and try to continue the good work the mission support group has been doing for a long time."
