Book author interviews SJ Airmen Published June 17, 2013 By Donna Lea 916th Air Refueling Wing Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. -- Mike Walling is writing a book. But not just any book, a book about Afghanistan and he is getting personal accounts from the men and women that have been there. Walling, who was commissioned by Osprey Publishing to write a complete work of the U.S. military operations in Afghanistan, came to Seymour Johnson in mid-June to talk to several active duty and Reserve Airmen that have served there since 2001. The author took some time to interview two 916th Air Refueling Wing Airmen. Capt. Frank Simon, 911th Air Refueling Squadron pilot, and Maj. Thaddeus Janicki, 916th Command Post OIC. The two Airmen talked about everything from combat stories to communications. No publication date is available yet and several 4th Fighter Wing Airmen will be interviewed as well.
