Lt Col Charles A. Trovarello is the Commander, 916th Mission Support Group, Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina. He leads an organization comprised of 400 officers, enlisted, and civilian personnel assigned to the Civil Engineer and Communications Flights, as well as the Security Forces, Force Support, and Logistics Readiness Squadrons. His Group provides support to the over 1,100 members in the 916th Air Refueling Wing, ensuring Air Force Reserve Command’s first KC-46 Pegasus Wing is mission ready.
Lt Col Trovarello commissioned as a Second Lieutenant out of the Reserve Officer Training Corps at King’s College/Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. in 2005. In 2006 he completed ICBM Initial Qualification Training and served in numerous combat crew roles while assigned to the 91st Space Wing, Minot AFB, N.D. After leaving active duty in 2009, Lt Col Trovarello cross-trained into Security Forces where he deployed twice, participated in and led multiple joint missions for Air Mobility Command and the Department of State, and held various leadership roles across a wide array of units. Prior to his current position, he was the Chief, Security Forces Division, Twenty-Second Air Force, Dobbins ARB, Ga.
Lt Col Trovarello, in addition to his Military career, has accumulated extensive federal government civilian experience. During the past 15 plus years, he served as a Federal Corrections Officer in Danbury, Conn. (2010-2013), Chief of Police Services for the 439th Security Forces Squadron, Westover ARB, Mass (2013-2015), Chief of Security, 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. (2015-2019), and from November 2022 to January 2025, he returned to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group as the Government Special Access Program Security Officer in charge of preparing the site for next generation systems maintenance and storage.
