In cooperation with the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation and the Goldsboro Police Department, members of the 916th Air Refueling Wing helped put together an award winning effort.

The 2006 North Carolina Main Street Award for the Best Public Private Partnership Revitalization Project was awarded in December for improvements made to the downtown Goldsboro police hut.

The painting of the police hut was one of many projects supported by the DGDC. The DGDC provides leadership dedicated to the improvement of downtown Goldsboro.

Lt. Col. Matt Young and Maj. Brian Davis, members of the 77th Air Refueling Squadron, helped paint the police hut located at the corner of East Walnut and Center Street.

"It feels great to be able to give some time and energy back to a community who does so much to support our military," said Colonel Young. "I hope more military members take the opportunities, which are abundant in Goldsboro, to volunteer and make this city the strong community it deserves to be."
