In 2005 Congress passed an act to increase security on Federal facilities, Air Force installations and airports due to the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001. The REAL ID Act of 2005 established new minimum security standards across the country for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards. It also prohibits Federal agencies from accepting licenses and ID cards for official purposes from states that have not yet met these standards.

Default Air Force Logo AF takes initial steps to reduce training unrelated to primary missions
The Air Force plans to reduce training not related to Airmen’s primary jobs in order to address concerns that excessive and non-mission related demands are impacting Airmen’s ability to focus on and accomplish their core duties, officials announced Oct. 31.

More than 40 F-15E Strike Eagles from the 4th Fighter Wing and five KC-135R Stratotankers from the 916th Air Refueling Wing were repositioned to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, Oct. 6, 2016, as a precautionary measure due to Hurricane Matthew. The 916th provided support to the more than 200 support personnel from the 4th FW by evacuating Airmen in several of their aircraft, along with equipment that was repositioned to Barksdale AFB.
