SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve, honored our nation's flag on Sunday of the September UTA by hosting an official flag retirement ceremony. Members of the wing participated with family members and local boy scout troops, nearly 100 people attended the event. Official guidance put forth by Congress dictates that worn, torn, faded and badly soiled flags should be retired and burned during an official ceremony.

SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. --After the pledge of allegiance to the flag, Master Sgt. Tim Edwards plays TAPS before the retiring of many United States flags. Sergeant Edwards is the chaplain's assistant with the 916th Air Refueling Wing. The ceremony was held during the September unit training assembly.
