National Guard Bureau
April 10, 2013 | 3:26
One of the deadliest days in the history of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM involved the downing by enemy fire of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter and the deaths of 30 American service members, including 19 members of Seal Team 6 along with seven Afghan Special Operators on August 6, 2011. The crash also took the lives of the entire crew. Sgt 1st Class Robert Stephenson followed a contingent of Colorado National Guardsmen as they paid their respects to their fallen comrades.
Suggested Tag: Along with the 37 military casualties, there was one more fatality, and that was a military working dog.
