Inspection preparation

Civic leaders see Predator mission
Civic leaders from the Military Affairs Committee at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base learned about the mission of the Predator and how reservists are supporting the mission in this unmanned aerial vehicle. Members of the MAC toured Nellis Air Force Base in late August during a tour hosted by the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve and 4th FW, Air Combat Command.

Leaders visit Thunderbirds
Civic leaders from Goldsboro, N.C. take pictures of the Thunderbirds crest located on the floor of Thunderbirds hangar at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. More than 30 community leaders were able to learn more about the impressive base during a tour sponsored by the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve and 4th Fighter Wing, Air Combat Command.

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Col. Fritz Linsenmeyer, commander of the 916th Air Refueling Wing, stands with two Goldsboro community leaders at Nellis Air Force Base's 'petting zoo.' More than 30 members of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base's Military Affairs Committee were able to travel with the Air Force Reserve Wing as a part of a joint civic leader tour with their active duty counterparts, the 4th Fighter Wing. The 'petting zoo' offers a collage of enemy weaponary for educational purposes.

SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Senior Master Sgt. Donald Knuth (far right), a Reservist with 916th Air Refueling Wing and full-time Sanford firefighter, shows off his new haircut with other members of the Sanford Fire Dept. Sgt. Knuth, a deputy fire chief with the Tarheel Reserve wing, shaved his head to help benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a charity supporting children's cancer research. Sgt. Knuth helped raise more than $5,000 for the charity.

One board at a time
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Ramps are not hard to build, but the boards must be just right. Senior Master Sgt Adrian Darby slides in the next board for a ramp that was used by Master Sgt.. Chris Scher's wife on her return home from the hospital. Sergeant Darby is a quality assurance superintendent and Sergeant Scher is quality assurance aircraft inspector. They both work with the 916th Maintenance Operations Flight, Air Force Reserve.

Jeff Verrett and Mike Marshall took time out to build a ramp for Master Sgt. Chris Scher's wife before returning home from the hospital. Bruce Langston training every other drill weekend will help for the next Operation Readiness Inspection. Sergeant Langston is a supply management craftsman with the 916th Logistics Readiness Squadron.
