SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve, received its KC-135 simulator from Meridian, Miss. on June 19. The simulator weighs 22,800 pounds and was positioned into the new 916th Squadron Operations Building, which is planned to open on Aug. 14 after an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- A KC-135R Stratotanker from the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve, sits on the ramp at the 2009 Wings Over Wayne Air Show. The tanker boasted long lines of interested spectators each day during the two-day aerial and static event. Crowds were estimated at over 100,000.

Tarheel tanker takes to desert skies for Red Flag
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- A KC-135 Stratotanker from the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve, takes off at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The plane, and active duty crew from the 911th Air Refueling Squadron, call North Carolina home, but were participating in aerial war games called Red Flag. Since 1975, Nellis has hosted the event periodically, giving pilots from the U.S., NATO and other allied countries an opportunity to hone their skills for real combat situations. KC-135 finds a new home
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Members of the 916th Maintenance Group move the new addition to the 916th Air Refueling Wing to a location on the flightline. The KC-135 from the 940th Air Refueling Wing, Beale Air Force Base, Calif., is just one of the eight airplanes that will be added to the 916th ARW as part of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission recommendations. SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C.--The 916th Air Refueling Wing, Air Force Reserve, passes gas to an F-22 Raptor earlier this year. The raptor is the newest fighter in the Air Force's arsenal. The Reserve wing, located in eastern North Carolina, conducts air-to-air refueling missions in support of global missions and training.
